Dronamics to deliver cargo in the UAE

Bulgarian cargo drone company Dronamics has taken a solid step on its quest to enter the logistics market in the Middle East; with an initial focus on the United Arab Emirates.

The company has announced that it has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with Emirates Post Group (EPG), a regional leader in postal and express delivery, to explore areas in which they can introduce cargo drone solutions into the company’s postal logistics operations in the country.

In a statement, Dronamics said the LoI is a milestone on a collaboration journey that will redefine cargo drone delivery in the United Arab Emirates.

“Partnering with Emirates Post Group provides us with the exciting opportunity to work on our expansion to the Middle East and the United Arab Emirates in particular, ” Svilen Rangelov, CEO and Co-Founder of Dronamics.

“Through this agreement we will look to implement our unique middle-mile cargo drone technology on the UAE market in service of EPG, its customers and its universal service mandate – an important step to achieving our vision of enabling same-day delivery for everyone everywhere.”

Under the terms of this LoI, EPG will explore and trial Dronamics’ cargo drone service to enable same-day middle-mile and long-range deliveries. Both organizations will collaborate towards developing a comprehensive cargo drone delivery network in the UAE and GCC.

Once successfully piloted, EPG intends to integrate this innovative technology into its logistics network and enable access of the technology to the wider logistics industry. In addition, EPG intends to be a launch partner of the future Dronamics UAE joint venture to support the expansion of their cargo drone operations in the region.

The strategic partnership with Dronamics will support EPG’s efforts in enabling the overall delivery supply chain of logistics operations in the UAE, according to Abdulla Mohammed Alashram, Group CEO of Emirates Post Group.

“With a shared vision of reshaping the future of the logistics sector, EPG and Dronamics are dedicated to enhancing cargo delivery speed, sustainability, and efficiency by deploying state-of-the-art drone technology,” Alashrm said.

“This partnership represents a significant milestone in the advancement of autonomous cargo drone transportation.”

As part of this LoI, Emirates Post Group will enable Dronamics, through its postal and express business managed by Emirates Post, to conduct Proof-of-Concept (POC) flights in the UAE with at least one drone aircraft by 2024.

A fast-growing player in the cargo drone space, Dronamics recently successfully conducted tests of its flagship Black Swan drone, which has the capacity to fly for up to 2,500km while carrying payloads worth 350kg.

The London and Sofia-based company’s vertical integration, encompassing drone aircraft design, construction, operation, and the creation of Droneports, has seen it positioning itself as a formidable force capable of revolutionising the same-day logistics sector.
