Draganfly tech for Dubai Police drone operations

North American Drone services provider Draganfly has announced that it will be working with police in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to pioneer new drone-based initiatives that will help the emirate’s constabulary in improving their public safety operations.

The statement has not mentioned whether Draganfly will also be supplying the Dubai Police with drones to go with the expertise; neither did it specify the exact type of services that will be rendered. But the company has drones that can monitor public events, locate objects and can be used to respond to disaster situations.

Their Draganflyer Commander drone can be used by public safety authorities for collision reconstruction, site monitoring, search and rescue, digital surface modelling, tactical overwatch, fire services, among other critical mission deployments, the company claims.

In August, the company also launched its “pandemic drone” which has the capacity to use thermal imaging software to detect potential Coronavirus cases among crowds.

The latest partnership will see the Draganfly technology being used by the Dubai Police’s Unmanned Aerial Systems Centre (UASC), the drone division of the General Department of Operations.

“We are pleased to have selected Draganfly to work with the Dubai Police to help improve operational effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity within the various General Departments of the Dubai Police because Draganfly can meet our mandate in developing technology to improve the wellbeing of our society and operational effectiveness in overall public safety,” said Major General Engineer Kamal Butti Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Department of Operations, Dubai Police.

“In addition, the strength and knowledge of the Draganfly team aligns perfectly with our ongoing innovation strategies making them the perfect partner to develop these important technology solutions.”

Draganfly’s CEO Cameron Chetty was excited about the new challenge.

“We are excited and honoured that the Dubai Police has chosen Draganfly to pilot their new drone initiatives with us, as they have been a world leader in public safety and in the use of drones. Draganfly has the proven capabilities and experience and we are excited to put our multiple technical and service platforms to work with the Dubai Police,” said Chetty.

Draganfly says it has been developing drone hardware and software for use in industries like public safety, agriculture, industrial inspections, security, and mapping and surveying markets for the past 22 years.
