From Ghana comes the wild reports that three dumb human beings – two men and a woman – were arrested last week for flying drones around the offices of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) without authorisation.
Yea, we said it; these people are thick headed and they should not be found within visual sight of a drone ever. In a world where a naughty pilot flew their drone around a whole airport with all its security and still be at large after years and years of investigations by seasoned police officers, how dumb does one have to be to be caught with your hands hot at the remote controls of a drone flying illegally around a police building?
But that is what happened to these three: they were reportedly caught on October 1 after drones were seen hovering over the heavily fortified EOCO facility for several minutes, prompting EOCO officials to pursue and apprehend the operators.
There was no immediate information on how many drones were in the air and what brand they were.
The EOCO is a specialised law enforcement agency in Ghana charged with investigating economic crimes. Interestingly, authorities at the Accra facility apprehended the three dumbos who were allegedly flying the drones at the exact time when a member of parliament had surrendered himself into the building to answer to allegations of financial mismanagement.
Nana Baffour Agyei Awuah is the MP for Manhyia South Member of Parliament and is currently embroiled in an investigation where his law firm stands accused of intentionally causing financial loss to the state.
Awuah is accused of helping a state-owned insurance company accept far less money than it was legally owed, resulting in a massive financial loss to the government, and then hiding the trail of that money.
The MP had voluntarily reported to EOCO on Thursday after an Accra High Court issued a warrant for his arrest on September 30.
Ghanaian media organisation, Joy News, has delved deeper into the drone idiots' case in the below video.
