Opportunity for SA youth in Alexandra

Let’s not waste time more time with a speech – if you are a youth resident in Alexandra Township in South Africa, then you could be one of 50 young people who can apply for a drone technology training programme today.

And you only have until April 1st to do it.

“Mzansi Aerospace Technologies, in partnership with the Youth Employment Service (YES) NPC at the Netcare Ulusha YES Hub in Alexandra (Johannesburg), is giving 50 young, tech-savvy graduates an opportunity to join a work readiness programme which will open doors for them to the drone industry.

“Graduates from SAQA-accredited tertiary institutions in the following fields of study are encouraged to apply: civil engineering, data science and analytics, machine learning, AI, town planning, surveying, GIS, aeronautics, air traffic control, aviation law, environmental management, urban development, security & surveillance and aircraft maintenance mechanic.

“The 50 successful candidates will receive a place on a sponsored work readiness programme, which will include on-the-job training covering: introduction to the regulatory framework in South Africa, a typical drone service workflow, the acquisition (by drone), processing and analysis of data to produce actionable insights in key applications, and actual work experience on drone projects.”

If you are not in Alex, or the opportunity has arisen too late for you, please spread the word. Africa needs as much drone professionals as it can make.
